This game was a huge failure in my eyes, and in the market. Do you think it was because the main characters in the storyline were women? Share your ideas.

I just think that it was an AWFUL game and had a pretty bad storyline, and that the super weird characters just didn't help at all. The gameplay was slightly fun, like the gunner move, Trigger Happy (because you got to button mash R1), but other than that it just wasn't a great game to put in the PS2 and play. Gender is not an issue in gaming (nor should it be for most things in real life). I personally have not played this game yet (it's on my shelf though) but it no doubt failed in some peoples eyes due to story/gameplay, not because it had female protagonists.

The game had a decent gameplay system, but the fact of the matter is it had a terrible storyline that ruined a perfectly resolved FFX. The music was disgusting and all the characters were/became annoying. Yuna became someone trying WAY TOO HARD to be one of the Spice Girls, Rikku got more annoying, Brother was a SHITHEAD, and Paine was a Lulu replacement that just ended up being Squall with a vagina... which he probably had to begin with.

Terrible in so many ways. Was it because it was all women? Actually, yes. There isn't anything WRONG with women at all, believe me, pussy is my favorite food. The problem is that all Square went out and did was cater senselessly to GRRRL PWR teenagers without saying anything relevant while also catering to the 30+ lonely pervert crowd by having these girls objectify themselves in skimpy outfits that complete negate any sort of VAG FREEDOM approach it could of went for. Was there substance? No. it had an inferior job system with some nice fast-paced elements, but it failed as a ROLE-PLAYING GAME in all areas because it didn't compel in it's story or characters because they were shallow and designed PURELY for sex appeal and teeny boppers that can have ANYTHING marketed to them.

tl;dr version: This game sucked balls because I said so.

But in my opinion it doesn't really matters whether it's male or a female it's about the game play,i don't mind if all of the main characters of FF is girl but if most people enjoy it,it'll still be fun.

But the storyline was ''ahem'' thus making it fail way too hard.

Of course it shouldn't matter, nothing is wrong with an all-female cast (though I think mixed gender is the best, for the sake of balance), but SE obviously made this to appeal to 30-year-old pervs and 14 year old wanna-be femminazis who don't understand that this is actually NOT empowering. XD

I hated this game. I don't even know why I forced myself to play through it. This is why you don't make sequels to good games, especially not of a Final Fantasy series.

I think the game is worth a play but the storyline was kind of bad but still was good in a FF way.

I disagree. FFX sucked by comparison to FFVII. FFX was indeed better than FFVIII though.

Actually, I've played a fair number of Final Fantasy games and this was one of my favorites :\ I mean, sure, it wasn't as awesome as X was, I'll give it that, but on its own I believe it did fairly well. And I thought the ability to sphere change (though I didn't agree with every costume these girls wore) made the game more entertaining. And I was also quite happy to see Rikku get over her thunder plains fear.

I just didn't see the point in making it when Final Fantasy X had a good ending that could have stayed the way it did, but people apparently--or at least the people in Square Enix weren't satisfied with the lack of a fairy tale ending (which pretty much every Final Fantasy has had in some form or another), so they had to go out and make this game.

I found myself literally being put to sleep by most of the events going on in this game and sure, it had its own amount of depth to it, but it didn't merit more than one play through for me since I got 100% and the Perfect Ending or whatever and that was it. At least with Final Fantasy X I had to go through so much hardship and utter chaos to get the ultimate weapons and the Crests needed for it as well as getting the three secret Aeons. Plus there's all the various challenges you can do to test your mettle as a hardcore gamer, but I won't go into that. Then there's Blitzball, my all time favorite past time for Final Fantasy X (My record is like 105-0 with an incredibly godlike team) and they even ruined that in X-2 by making it a game where all you can do is delegate positions and some such shit and just sit back to watch it play itself. You can't even interact with it like you can in X.

=/ I just did not like this game.

Indeed, the thing that pissed me off most about X-2 is that it RUINED the ending of FFX, which was, despite the game's flaws, very tight and had a sense of closure. X-2 was only a little more coherent than the movie SpiceWorld.
