Issue with a Private Server Empty Issue with a Private Server

Post by Hasshoudou Fri Dec 19, 2008 2:09 pm

In order to keep myself busy while waiting for LlamaMS, I was sampling several other Private Servers. One in particular I started to like and wouldn't mind playing it for an extended period until Llama came out was AngelStory. Now, today, I tried to open AngelStory and the .exe file just went "poof," vanishing from my MapleStoryV55 folder and my Anti-Virus claimed to have blocked and deleted a Trojan Horse. My first thought was, "What the fuck? Why did it get deleted and claimed as a Trojan?" So I went to try and download it again. As soon as it finished, Norton deleted it immediately and blocked it as a Trojan, so now I can no longer download AngelStory. I'm concerned of excluding it from Norton's blocking, but I don't want to actually catch a Trojan Horse virus and let it destroy my computer.

Anything I can do about this?

Well, generally some of the older clients are detected as a Trojans, namely the first generation of v55 Localhosts. Now, they could have planted something, but the chances are very minimal, and if its that important, go get Norton or Acronis and back your shizzle up.

At very worst, you could ask them for their WAN IP, and I'll HEX you up a clean Localhost if you need it.

Their forums suck, to be honest, so I don't know if I'd even want to try and make a thread there.

They have so many ads and shit that it causes ridiculous amounts of lag to the point it's unbearable. I might just say "fuck it" and not even worry about it, because I'd just quit playing it when LMS comes out anyways.

Turn it off. Then when it starts try turning it on. If AngelStory stops then, just dont play at all. Thats what i would do.
